Mechanical Reproduction

This series uses scanner photography to explore the relationship between self-image and mechanical reproduction. By pressing my face directly against the scanner glass, the device captured details that are often concealed or corrected; smudged makeup, stray hairs, skin texture, and distortion.
The scanner produces an unfiltered and highly detailed record of the face which disrupts conventional expectations of feminine beauty and self-presentation. Rather than constructing an idealised portrait, the work examines the physical reality of the body and questions how digital images shape our understanding of identity and appearance.
